Has any one had any experience of using an electric outboard on an inflatable dinghy, I am thinking of buying one, only for use on a short journey to the mooring and back..Bob
I have used one many times, it is a really reliable way to move a dinghy just to transit ashore they are surprisingly powerful coping well with a little rough water and fast. Well worth buying.
Don't come very often as I'm a user of ybw.com forums. But the owner of Nestaway Boats is very knowledgeable of electric outboards and will hopefully give good advice. He has so far on ybw forums !
Bob I have just picked one up but have not used it yet. I welcome the idea of being able to start the motor at will.
It would appear that the heavier the battery you are prepared to put into the dingy will determine how far you can go. We do not intend to to use it for anything more than to and from the beach/quay.
Another advantage is that the motor and battery will be loaded sepperaetly reducing the need to lower a heavy motor over the side.
