updating charts

Having gone through all the LNTM updates on my paper charts it becomes quite obvious that my chartplotter is now getting out of step.
I have a Garmin Gpsmap 750 which comes with built in charts. I dont seem to be able find anywhere to update the charts. Any ideas?

The 750 looks a nice bit of kit! I did some research and it seems that you will need to purchase a new sd card in order to update the internal bluecharts. I found this link
    http://www.activegps.co.uk/garmin-bluechart-g2-uk-ireland-map-update-card.htm
Although that page is for a 2016 chart, I would hope that if you phone them they may have more recent updates as well... Hopefully that should help ? ..

Digressing, I have a very old and loved garmin 176c that has ancient charts that I use as a backup. For me, the answer for affordable and up to date charts now is to use a phone or tablet and the Navionics charts. They are affordable and work well for me. Of course other charts are available, and I used c-map happily on my PC for a few years, along with the superb Neptune navigation route planning software. But Navionics seem to have better prices, certainly for tablet/iPad use. If you look at our map page, you can see full Navionics charts for anywhere in the world. This should give you an idea of how they look.(PS the CCA does not have any connection with Navionics, we just use their charts on the map page)
I think the garmin charts I had used a different 'look' and so you may find it takes a bit to get used to them.

Sorry I went a bit off topic, but hope this helps..

Yes, you are right, I had to get an SD card.
So, the process went as follows:
Insert a 4 GB SD card in the chart plotter, and then turn it on. This writes a small file to the SD card.
Turn the chart plotter off and take the SD card home.
Download and install Garmin Express on to the PC.
Insert the SD card in the PC and open Garmin Express.
Select the option to check availability of updates. The file written to the SD card is used to determine what you currently have.
If there is an update available, then pay for it (£49.95), and download to the SD card.
Insert the SD card in the chart plotter and turn on, System information will show that the installed charts are 2012, with  updates to 2017.
The SD card needs to stay in the chart plotter in order to use the updates.

Thanks, at least it works with an ordinary sd card and did not require a special one with the charts installed..

    Cheers
