Hi. We're new 8m owners in SW FL. Looking for a source of exterior hatch hinge replacements and where to find replacement breaker switches for the original 12v 8m electrical panel.
I think there were probably a number of alternate options, can you send some photos to help? For myself, on Scubacat we replaced the plastic hinges with modern stainless ones. I will try to get the exact type for you...but only some of the original holes fit the new hinges although the end results are fine. My original electrics had simple toggle switches and fuses, not breakers. I replaced the lot with some push button reset breakers plus inexpensive switches with led indicators. The latter may have been an economy too far, as the LEDs have blown on a few over the last ten years. A more expensive switch and separate indicator may be a better approach. One thing that worked well was the location of the new panel, which slots into a revised access panel that covers the back of the wheel gear and steering linkage. I will try to find a photo. Dagnall
I found what I think is a spare Stainless Steel hinge of the type I used on my lockers: It is a "10-36116" "SS Strap Hinge, made by c.quip (www.cquip.com), but looking on their site it appears they may have changed their reference numbers. My hinge is 152mm by 29mm, and has three holes in line. It looks like the new part number is Part No: 10A-86026 if I recall correctly, the end holes align with the existing holes from the plastic parts, making replacement reasonably simple.
I also found a photo of Scubacat's updated switches (this photo is from 2005 so forgive the old laptop!).
The hinged chart table plus the switch panel replaced the access panel to the back of the steering wheel.
Hope this assists.
