<font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">I had tried OpenCPN out on a Rasberry PI, but had not persevered!. </span></font><div style=""><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">My preference is for Weather4d (</span></font><a href="https://www.weather4d.com/" style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">https://www.weather4d.com/</a><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">) for getting and viewing GRIB files. </span></font><div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">Its a bit complicated, but worth exploring in these times when we cannot actually sail. </div><div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">You can choose different grib areas and sources. I have one very small data set that is suitable for downloads over 3G, and another - much larger file that included tidal data that I download when on WiFi.</div><div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">I use it at home regularly to see what the weather is going to be like. </div><div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">Today's view on the "wind" view below, but we tend to look at the "precipitation" more when we are at home.</div><div style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">Weather 4D "plus" also does route planning and can take into account tides and the yacht polar characteristics. </div><div style=""><font face="Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">But for </span></font><span style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal;">passage planning you cannot beat Neptune Navigation's passage planner. I do not "Android" so have not tested the new android app in depth, but I would expect it to work well- but be aware that a recent Android "update" did cause problems (details all on their website). It also gets and reads Gribs, but the main thing is that it has built in tidal info and proper </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">charts</span><span style="font-size: 10pt;">.
