Well I'm twiddling my thumbs while you are all scoffing at the meet and eat. Jackie is gallevanting in buxton so I though I would try and fathom how to post and edit . I seem to have fathomed how to edit words and put pictures up so I will post a few tasters from last year as an encouragement for destinations this summer It being the start of the season.
We moved achillea from padstow to truro. At the end of last year with really sunny weather and next to no wind, Landsend was flat.
We arrive at 3 in the very cold morning and Jackie blew the dink up before setting off in daylight.

waiting for the 2.8 meter swell , sure it was more,to die .The wind had been running up the channel for a few days and although it had died to nothing the swell persisted for longer than I expected

a nice walk up through the woods to the pub where we stopped to watch the new management launch the pub with a band that got lost eventually after several phone calls they gave up snd went home photo DSC_0648.jpg
It was a long walk and we forgot anything but a little cash found in the bottom of jackies bag.So we were starving while waiting for the band that did not appear and the one pint in 4 hours was nowhere near enough what with the temprature and the aching feet , I'm sure Jackie mentioned. Something about Victer Meldrew at somepoint. Who moiphoto DSC_0656.jpg

Looks like about 50% success in posting images!!.
Always best to start with 640*480 size images, they are smaller to upload and view.
I find Its also easier to type words first then add the photo last..

Cheers going to hsve another go during the week. Will look at the size thing, will have to put tgem in a separate folder and use the cli to resize. Edit Decided to try to use some HTML. which seems to work better ,with links to photobucket.

L'Aber'wrach was just a brief resting place this time prior to pushing on down the channel du four in what would proove to be a flat calm for the third time! Who says its rough down there itsa pussycat.photo Screenshot_2016-07-05-00-26-31.png
Dawn was accompanied. with the morning tea on the fordeck

We left L'Aber'wrach early in the morning with spaced between a dozen other boats most of whom were heading for the Channel du four . There was a lot of swell still left but 2 hours later the sun had flattened it. We could barely see Ushant for mist just a bit of the top of the hill .

We have a garmin plotter and alway carry back up paper charts but opencpn on an android phone and hudle (cm93 charts)is surprisingly accurate with a few tricks such as screenshots .On plot satellite view is available with net coverage unless you download the area on to the phone by wifi prior to sailing. The garmin and opencpn usually agree to position.

The top of Quessant is just visible in the clouds, fog apparently a common occurance ,we escaped from Quessant in fog last year after a wait for a break in visibility which never came.

The run down Channel du Four is very quick with the wind in the right direction a big push from the tide 5 knots towards the old monks at the bottom ,we only had a knot with us at Valbelle. Top to bottom is only an hour and a half.

photo tmp_7320-DSC_06851824791264.jpg

The picture of the monks was taken during our trip to brest in 2015. when we saw Hermione on her return to Brest from its vist to USA well worth a vist a spectacular 17 year faithfull reconstruction of a 1760's french ship of the line.

We managed to do a sail past Hemione in 2015 ,It really is worth a visit if you get the chance.Ill put a few photos of our 2015 trip up when I have time,it was a late in the year trip with longish dark nights.

2016 we slid passed the helter skelter looking tower, one of the approach towers to Brest thinking we might have time to spend a night or two in the rade on the way back.

Well we headed on past Camaret -sur-mer where we planned to visit again on the way back , going across Douarnenez bay .

Which was a bit of calm before a force 6 sea breeze set in in the last hour before arrival , I would have tried to video it but we were beset with about 50 small sailing boats and cats which started racing around us with atleast 6 or seven capsized in front of us .There was  an added navigation  issue 3 hobbyist old sailing boat towing fishing lines tacking infront of us, it was all we could do to keep from sailing over them .
We wandered around the back past small boat moorings loooking an anchorage and the turned round and found shelter behind the island at the entrance to the river.

It was quite rough and I did not get around to video untill the following day when it had calmed down.

While we were there on springs , we notice that we could
Here and feel the raz at times a good few miles away in the calm.

I keep adding a bit to this thread still quite few pictures of that trip .It's finding time ! We go on to Cameret next. I really must get rid of the photobucket pics and post the originals . Originally I couldn't post pics and vids without the bucket and gave up trying for a while but now know how to do it.
