    Hi everyone
Had a lovely week at Thassos, the marina is still a building site, but nice and safe, If a bit muddy after the thunder, lightening and very heavy rain that we had one night.  Hired a car and had a great trip around the island, took the ferry to the mainland and meet up with our friends who live in Kironi for lunch, The weather was so bad that the ferries had been cancelled in the morning so when they re-opened it was all rush and policemen blowing their whistles.
I went horse riding down to the beach for a ride along the sands, really great
Left the marina early for the 40mile crossing to samothraki, lovely beam reach to start with, then half way across the wind changed and we had 24knots on the nose, not nice, the wind direction change had not been forcasted, so we were not happy bunnies, anyway all ok got into the harbour all nice and safe and sound,
we had booked a car for today to have a look round this island, its supposed to be one of the best greek islands, but some mistake with the booking, so not sure if we will move on tomorrow or take a drive.
Best wishes to you all John and margaret

    Hi all
Left finikas on the island of Siros at 6.30am. Got a 2day weather window before more very strong winds arrive. Trying to get to poros on the peloponnise for trip back to uk. Still got 3 weeks, but would rather spend that time over on the peloponnise.
Cyclades have been very nice and over the past couple of weeks we have done nearly all sailing, so that's good
Met up with a couple with a lagoon who come from Poole and are members of the Poole yacht club.
    Best wishes to you all
    John and Margaret

Great to hear from you and that you are having a good time out there.  Who were the couple from Poole Yacht club and what was their boat name?

Update with Chris' knee.  The operation went very well but the effects of the drugs did not go down too well.

The problem stopped Chris from any physio for two days by which time the effect of the serious pain killing drugs had worn off making it much more painful to start the mobility work.   Chris has now got through this stage and is able to walk about the house unaided.   Chris has a schedule of exercises and ice compress routines that she follows 4 times a day.  The staples were removed yesterday (40), it was as if the surgeon had used a paper staple tool all the way down the wound.   With a special tool the nurse had to bend each staple to remove it.  Oh joy!   All looks good and only a few small leaks from the wound.

    Hi all
We are now back in the Ionion making our way to lefkas for the winter.
Had a really good season this year, done a lot of miles and lots of sailing
Left the ageane with a pod of dolphins saying good bye and coming through the Corinth canal lots of kingfisher birds flying by us, then as we approached the harbour along the gulf of patra, one of the islands we passed had a whole colony of herons , grey and white, roosting in the trees, we have been so lucky except for fishing, we still keep trying with different lures but no luck.
    Best wishes to you all
    John and Margaret

    Hi Everyone
We are now on a pontoon in Nidri, we always seem to end up here at the end of the season, just catching up with a few chores, that never seem to get done
Tomorrow we will go into the Lefkas marina for the winter, already caught up with the other guys, who are already there, looks like we will have a fun winter again
Im sorry our trip back to the UK was so short, we didnt manage to get to see everyone, which was a shame, hopefully next time.
Its still lovely and sunny here although cooler in the evenings and mornings
I mustn't forget ....  we caught a fish, a nice fairly large one ( two meals out of it). we were sailing to little vathi a small town on the island of Megganisie, in a very heavy downpour, when we caught it.
Hope to do better next season
We send our very best wishes to you all and hope that you had a good sailing season
    John and Margaret

    Happy Christmas to you!.
We also slept on the boat Christmas Eve and Christmas Night, because the house was full. but with a F8 on Boxing Day my daughter and son in law decided that we needed to sleep at home..., so they got hold of a "pump up" bed and slept on the lounge floor, whilst we had a our bed back!...
